Byrd collapses

Robert Byrd (D-WV, the Senate's only former Exalted Cyclops of the Ku Klux Klan) speaking in 1964:
"I'll drop dead the day a black man can be president."

HEADLINE OF THE DAY: Obama Inaugurated, Ex-Klansman Collapses.

Byrd is a former Klansman from WV and was indeed Exalted Cyclops of his local chapter. It is not clear when he actually left the Klan, and he has apologized on many occasions and is apparently regretful of his membership.
In 1964, he engaged in a long filibuster of the Civil Rights Act. I believe that this is where the quote originates.
And, yes, he did collapse at Obama's inaugural luncheon. As far as I know, he is still alive.

But still . . . wow . . .

I love it when old people collapse! I would say something about Draft Dodgin' Dick Cheney being in a wheel chair, but that would be considered Bush Derangement Syndrome.
