I am sorry, I don't get the humor - was he supposed to swim in a different outfit? A T-shirt? I am not trying to be smart or sarcastic - just trying to understand.
O.
Here's the story behind the pictures. Recently, Miss California (a beauty pageant contestant) was asked whether or not she believed in same-sex marriage. She answered that she did not believe in same-sex marriage, and the liberal press has been rather scathing if not downright mean in their reaction to her personal belief, which some equate with bigotry. Yet President Obama has expressed EXACTLY THE SAME VIEWPOINT on same-sex marriage, and nobody in the media has voiced any criticism of his views or personal beliefs on this issue.
In their quest for dirt to sling at Miss California, they have uncovered a few "topless" photos of her taken a few years ago. Therein lies the hypocrisy, and the humor in this story.
Thanks for clarification - it really helps!
Let me see if I can help...
Miss Prejean indicated in her answer that she prefers "opposite marriage" and that she believed that it was legal and a choice in all 50 states, no offense, but that in her family and her country she believed that marriage should be be between a man and a woman. Obama (the anti-christ, no offense) opposes a constitutional ban and supports full civil unions that "give same-sex couples equal legal rights and privileges as married couples, including the right to assist their loved ones in times of emergency as well as equal health insurance, employment benefits, and property and adoption rights."
No one is really sure
how
that
is
exactly
the
same
position
except for the exceedingly insane right wing of this country. The real story about Miss Prejean is apparently that she is a compulsive liar (lied about the nude photos, dating Michael Phelps, and that she was never a man) that was never going to win the pageant so she allowed herself to be used by an organization that believes that gays should not only not be allowed to marry, but also that they should be put to death. Her mother (also a conveniently devout Christian) has been married 4 times (so far) and employed accusation of homosexuality in the divorce proceedings of two of them (so far). So we can only imagine how bad marriage in this country would be if those filthy gays were allowed to marry.
"Likewise, I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness" (1 Timothy 2:10).
Also, the bible considers the wearing of eyeglasses to be an abomination, and is against midget wrestling in all forms (cage matches included).
No offense, but I think she would be a great running mate for either Jindal or Palin in 2012.
Dear Dad,
This is special.
Love,
Your darling daughter

Petronia--excellent video!
Anonymous--no matter how garbled her answer was to the "gotcha" question, Miss California's basic response was that she believes that marriage is between a man and a woman. This is exactly what Obama believes, and Biden, and Hillary Clinton, and . . .
That's basically it. Is she a twit? Probably. Does she believe in civil unions? I don't know. Does she believe that homosexuals are bad, or should be put to death? I don't know. Is she a bigot? I don't know.
No one does. But because she believes, just as Obama UNEQUIVOCALLY does, that marriage is between a man and a woman, she gets skewered. Oh no! She dated Michael Phelps! She got breast implants! She posed for some racy pictures! Michael Musto said that not only was she a Nazi Klaus Barbie doll, but that she used to be a man--a homophobic man. He didn't say that about Obama, or Paul Wellstone (who voted YES on prohibiting same-sex marriages). And don't even get me started on that perennial star of the Democratic Party, Marion Barry.
Perhaps you can tell me how this statement
"I do believe that tradition, and my religious beliefs say that marriage is something sanctified between a man and a woman."AND this statement
"I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman"
AND this statement
"I think a marriage is as a marriage always has been, between a man and a woman."
are in any way different.
FYI, those statements were made by Miss California, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama, but not necessarily in that order.
Glad to see you've changed your mind on Stewart.

Heh, indeed.
It's not one snippet of what she said about gay marriage (and was it just me or did she seem rattled at one of her recent press conferences), it's everything else she has said. Stay with the clip for the crying (reminiscent of my fave Mr. Glen Beck!)
Keep in mind this was linked at Instaputz, and posted at Hot Air!
While we're all doing these fascinating thought experiments to identify who the real hypocrite is...
Why do your teabagging friends call Obama a socialist and anti-christ, and weep that his spending will destroy this country, when
Ronald
Reagan
spent
three
times
as much
as all
prior
administrations
combined?
That's right, St. Ronnie did the same thing, and the wingnuts didn't cry or march in the streets!
I thought that Stewart's take (in which he basically lambastes both sides, not just Prejean) was pretty good. And I was glad to see him apologize for the whole "Truman is a War Criminal" thing.
I take it you only watched the Olbermann video, and didn't read the takedown of St. Keith that accompanied it. HE actually accused HER of "know-it-allism." Wow.
Despite what you want to say about her personally, and her overwrought, goofy response to the whole thing, the fact remains that her belief that marriage is between a man and a woman
is
the
same
as
Obama's/Biden's/Clinton's. (I feel like e e cumming when I do that.)
I'm also pretty sure you are incorrect that there were no voices raised about the Bush or Reagan deficits. Maybe they weren't as loud and organized as the Tea Party protests. But maybe that's because
Obama
has
quadrupled
the
deficit
in
his
first 30 days in office.
Oh, and by the way, Gitmo? Still open. Rendition? Alive and well. Military tribunals? We got 'em! But that's probably a subject for another post.
Maybe they weren't as loud and organized as the Tea Party protests...
